“Fighting Together,” the pathos-laden release trailer for Spider-Man 2

“Spider-Man 2” (or Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, if you straight up don’t want to be confused with the movie and the other second “Spider-Man”) is potentially Sony’s biggest hit release of the year. Just in case there’s anything you didn’t know about the game or were afraid to ask, we’ve compiled the answers to your most burning questions in one piece.

Will it be on PC?

Will it be on PC?

Sony hasn’t officially confirmed it, but apparently yes, it will. PCs already have Part 1 and Miles Morales, and Sony continues to port its most punchy exclusives from the PlayStation 5.

You can roughly estimate the timeline for other ports: for example, it’ll be about two years between Horizon: Forbidden West’s release on PS5 and its release on PC. Consequently, “Spider-Man 2” for PC can be expected somewhere in late 2025.

However, this is just guessing on a coffee grounds – no one but Sony itself will not tell you the real plans now.

How is the second part different?

Among the main features of the sequel:

  • You can play as two Spiders, Peter Parker and Miles Morales (but no co-op).
  • Venom and Kraven the Hunter will appear in the story.
  • Peter Parker will get the famous black symbiotic suit – it will give the hero new abilities. In total for the sequel stated more than 65 costumes.
  • The map from the first part will be expanded: you will be able to visit a piece of New York on the other coast. The total area of the open world has increased by about two times.
  • Both Spiders have new abilities: for example, flying on flaps, gliding on water or parrying in combat.

Is it necessary to know the plot of the first part?

“Spider-Man 2” – a direct continuation of the storyline of the first part and the independent addition “Miles Morales”. For the full feeling, of course, you can first pass the previous two games and get more familiar with the characters, but it is not necessary to do so: you can learn about the key events from the video below.

The same clip will be shown to you at the launch of the new game in Spider-Man 2 itself. So don’t be afraid, you won’t miss the really important things.

Is it a big game?

The developers estimate that the main story campaign takes an average of 15 hours to complete, and a full playthrough with all the sidequests takes about 40 hours.

Maybe wait for add-ons and updates to come out?

Updates for the sequel are indeed announced: for example, they will add “New Game +”, the ability to replay individual missions and expanded options in photo mode.

The story additions, on the other hand, have not been announced. Maybe they really will not be, or maybe they will be presented after the release. Recall, it was not so with the first part: there the series of story add-ons The City That Never Sleeps was announced shortly before the release of the main game.

Any bugs?

Judging by the press reviews, “Spider-Man 2” is very well polished and does not have a critical number of bugs.

Performance is also fine: the game is quite stable at 60 fps at a floating resolution of 2K, and also offers several alternative modes: with 30 fps, but resolution up to 4K and better graphics, with intermediate 40 fps for 120 Hz displays or without fps limiter at all.

How good a game did it turn out to be?

Right now, Spider-Man 2 is one of the highest rated releases of the year. However, reviews give the impression that it’s a safe sequel: there are no radical changes, but it’s still a smartly put together Spider-Man action movie with a strong emphasis on story and plenty of spectacular scenes. If you liked the first installment and want more of the same, you can pick up the second.
